USS Missouri
Advanced Sensor Countermeasures (ASCM)
The Advanced Sensor Countermeasures system, presently in use only on Katana-class starships, has the ability to reduce sensor detection and lock to near zero. Since this technology is more a "masking" one than a "cloaking" one, it bypasses the restrictions given in the Treaty of Algeron.
A ship running under ASCM gains many of the same benefits as a cloaked vessel in the areas of defense. Threat forces cannot hit what they cannot detect.
A major drawback to this system is the fact that visually the ship is still detectable and can be targeted manually. A major advantage to this system is that a ship under ASCM has the ability to fire weapons.
