Toronto-Class Starship
The Toronto-class battleship and carrier was first proposed to Starfleet in 2345. It was rejected because Starfleet felt that a ship class as the Toronto did not fit in with Starfleet's vision of the future. In 2347, when the blueprints for
the Klingon Negh'Var-class battleship were leaked to the Federation, Starfleet decided to build a ship that could rival it. In 2348, the plans for the Toronto-class ship were finally accepted. The typical Toronto-class starship was to be approximately 2 kilometers or 2,000 meters in length, roughly 800 meters longer than the Romulan Warbird and 600 meters longer than the Klingon Negh'Var. The Toronto would also have the most sophisticated systems.
